9 Books For Boys Who Hate To Read
There are so many amazing and popular books out there to read like, Diary of A Wimpy Kid and Dog Man but this list has some fun books that your non-book reading children will actually enjoy reading. There are book ideas for kids ranging from 4 to 14 (& older because as an adult I enjoy some of these books too, especially this one 🙂 )
1. Dangerous Book For Boys
Every single boy (and man) should have this book! This is one of the most popular books for kids with over 1.5 million copies sold. You will learn about how to make a treehouse, skimming stones, spy codes, fishing, fossils, timers & tripwires and tons more. There is so much in this book to catch every boys attention. The book has been so loved Bryan Cranston made a TV series about it.
2. Try Not To Laugh Challenge
If your kids have ever spent time on YouTube watching Try Not To Laugh Challenges they will really enjoy this book. There are lots of jokes to tell around the campfire or while snuggled in your tent and the goal is to, of course, not laugh. First one to laugh is out of the game and the last serious faced child (or adult) is the winner.
3. Laugh Out Loud Jokes For Kids
If you have a child that doesn’t like to read books, joke books are the solution. My son will only read 3 types of books, joke books, #7 down below and this kind. My son loves telling the jokes from this book so much (and it helps him improve his reading skills) that I now know most of the answers to all the jokes. You just can’t go wrong Laugh Out Loud Jokes for Kids.
4. A Camping Spree With Mr. Magee
Lion and Tiger Cub Scouts will love the adventure that Mr. Magee and Dee his dog find themselves on. What starts as a simple camping trip turns into quite an adventure. A fun book for our younger cub scout kids. At this age your child may not be able to read yet but this book and the next one on the list may inspire them to be readers as you spend time reading with them.
5. Llama Llama Goes Camping
Llama Llama is at it again. This time he is on a camping trip! Llama Llama has become so popular that Netflix has made a series with the beloved character. This book is based on an episode where we learn that what might seem scary while camping really isn’t all that scary at all.
6. The Boys Book of Adventure
This spiral bound book is loaded with fun activities to keep the kiddos busy for hours. You will find outdoor activities, cool DIY activities like how to make a boat from bark from a tree, different rescue techniques like how to make a stretcher or wrap a bandage. Each page has great hand drawn images that break it down into easy steps.
7. Guinness Book of World Records
One of the coolest books for kids of any age! Adults too! I enjoy sitting with my kids and looking through this book as well. (and yes kids you will find Dude Perfect & their Absurd Recurds in there 🙂 ) So many fun facts, pictures, and incredible stories inside this book that kids will love to look through this night after night.

This book from National Graphic is stuffed full of facts, facts, and more facts. Presented in a super bright and colorful way that kids will love. Facts about sharks, inventions throughout history, sports, spies, dinosaurs, toys and games. There is a topic for every possible interest!
9. SAS Survival Handbook
This is the 3rd edition of the SAS Survival Handbook – The Ultimate Guide to Surviving Anywhere. This edition has been updated with an additional 100 pages of material with a chapter now on Urban Survival. So, if you have an earlier edition of this popular book you may need an updated one. This is one of those don’t leave home without it books for it is the best best resource for hikers, campers (any outdoor adventurer) This should be in every older scout & scout leaders backpack.
